PRODUCTS
Not sure which size to choose?
So what size will work best for you? Our recommendations are as follows:
48 pieces: Children 4-6 years old
100 pieces: Children 6-8 years old
252 pieces: Children 9-10 years & adults
500 pieces: Children 10+ & adults (5+ hours are often required)
1000 pieces: Children 10+ & adults (10+ hours are often required)
The level of difficulty and time required may vary based on the uploaded photos. Rule of thumb is that the more colorful the photos are, the easier the puzzle process seems to be.
What are the size of the puzzle pieces?
The size of the puzzle pieces varies by the overall puzzle size and the puzzle categories.
These are an average range of puzzle piece dimensions in inches. Our random nature of these puzzle pieces produce varying sizes
- 1000 piece puzzle: 11/16" x 11/16"
- 500 piece puzzle: 1-1/16" x 1-5/16"
- 252 piece puzzle: 1-1/16" x 1"
- 100 piece puzzle: 1-7/8" x 1-7/16"
- 48 piece puzzle: 2-1/2" x 2-3/16"
What is a random puzzle piece cut?
When cutting a puzzle, you have two primary options to choose for puzzle piece shape – ribbon cut and random cut.
Ribbon cut puzzles cut pieces on a grid – there are clear lines both vertically and horizontally in the puzzle. This means you could build the puzzle line by line at a time. It also means the shape and size of your individual pieces will be fairly consistent.
Random cut puzzles do not follow a grid. Each piece is individually shaped. When it’s being built, you’d likely be developing clusters of pieces rather than lines of pieces.
Random cut puzzles can offer a greater challenge for larger puzzles where audiences may be anticipating a more traditional ribbon cut, but it may also be an added benefit in smaller puzzles because there is little risk of confusing where a piece may go.

What size is the puzzle box?
For all puzzle sizes, we use one puzzle box size: 10" x 8" x 1.75". It is a premium cardboard 2 piece rigid box.
Can I glue my puzzle after it has been completed?

IMAGE FILES
What image file formats can be processed?
We can process JPG (jpg, jpeg), PNG, GIF and SVG formats. Most digital cameras automatically take pictures in the required JPG format! If you have any other formats, please contact us and we will make it work. Our customer service can be reached at info@makeyourpuzzle.com
What is the recommended image resolution?
The higher the resolution, the better the quality of your printed photo puzzle. The final
product also depends strongly on the resolution of the original digital photo.
If your image has a minimum length of 1600 pixels on its longest side, this is sufficient for a puzzle of 48, 100, 252 pieces. This measurement corresponds approximately to a picture taken with a 2-megapixel camera. For a puzzle consisting of 500 and 1000 pieces, we recommend a minimum of 2500 pixels, corresponding to a 4-megapixel digital camera/phone camera.
We recommend a minimum dpi (dots per inch) of 300 dpi.
What is the maximum file size I can upload?
The maximum file size you can upload is 500MB (megabyte) per file.
Will you edit or modify my images once submitted?
No, we do not edit or modify your image(s) – your image will be printed exactly like you submitted.
Can I crop my photos within your customizer software?
Yes. During the creation process, you have control over how your image is positioned and cropped when produced.
Colors are off from the original photo - what happened?
Unfortunately, color differences can occur due to the individual adjustment of monitors, which can differ in brightness, resolution, contrast, and color.
What are Bleed and Cut Lines?
While using our Photo Puzzle Customizer, you will recognize two different lines. Both lines will help you to optimize your puzzle customization process.
The blue line is the Bleed line - so what is Bleed?
In short, bleed is a printing term that refers to the area that is printed beyond the edge of the finished page size. If we didn't have bleed, and cut down your artwork even a fraction off of the trim line, you'd then have white edges showing on your artwork where you actually wanted your image all the way up to the edges. Having this bleed area prevents this from happening and ensures having a nice clean trim edge to the puzzles.
Pink dotted line - is the Puzzle Die Cut line. What is the cut line for?
The pink dotted line indicates where the puzzle die will make the cut on the printing sheet. So it is important to check that all image elements along with your potentially added text section is within this area and not on or off the pink dotted edge.
