Puzzle Box Customization
The next step is to start the puzzle box customization—it is optional. If you decide not to customize the puzzle box, you can proceed with our standard puzzle box.
In case you want to customize the puzzle box, follow these steps:
-
Go to the Puzzle Box customization screen by clicking the Box Button within the online puzzle maker screen.
-
Add your text, such as greeting lines or other personalized text lines. You can change the font type and color and place the text field on the puzzle box lid. We recommend positioning your text field below the puzzle image on the lid and purposely leaving some space open.

Not Sure Which Size To Choose?
So, what size will work best for you? Our puzzle recommendations are as follows:
48 pieces: Children 4-6 years old, seniors
100 pieces: Children 6-7 years old; seniors
252 pieces: Children 8-9 years & adults
500 pieces: Children 10+ & adults (5+ hours are often required)
1000 pieces: Children 10+ & adults (10+ hours are often required)
The difficulty level and time required may vary based on the uploaded custom photos. The rule of thumb is that the more colorful the images are, the easier the puzzle process seems.
Can I frame my jigsaw puzzle?
Absolutely! Framing a custom jigsaw puzzle is a fantastic way to preserve and display your hard work. Make sure it’s glued together securely, then choose a frame that fits the dimensions of your puzzle.
What is the recommended image resolution?
The higher the photo resolution, the better the quality of your printed photo puzzle. The final product also depends strongly on the resolution of the original digital photo.
If your image has a minimum length of 1600 pixels on its longest side, this is sufficient for a puzzle of 100 260 pieces. This measurement corresponds approximately to a photo taken with a 2-megapixel camera. For a puzzle consisting of 500 and 1000 pieces, we recommend a minimum of 2500 pixels, corresponding to a 4-megapixel digital or phone camera.
We recommend a minimum dpi (dots per inch) of 150 dpi.
What image file formats can be processed?
We can process JPG (jpg, jpeg), PNG, GIF, and SVG photo formats. Most digital cameras automatically take pictures in the required JPG format! If you have other photo formats, please get in touch with us; we will make it work. Our customer service can be reached at info@makeyourpuzzle.com
What are bleed and cut lines?
While using our Photo Puzzle Customizer, you will recognize two different lines. Both lines will help you to optimize your puzzle customization process.
The blue line is the Bleed line - so what is bleed?
In short, bleed is a printing term that refers to the area printed beyond the edge of the finished page size. Suppose we didn't have to bleed and cut down your artwork even a fraction of the trim line. In that case, you'd have white edges showing on your artwork where you wanted your image up to the puzzle edges. This bleed area prevents this from happening and ensures a nice, clean trim edge to the puzzles.
The pink dotted line - is the Puzzle Die Cut line. What is the cut line for?
The pink dotted line indicates where the puzzle will cut the printing sheet. It is essential to check that all image elements and your potentially added text section are within this area, not on or off the pink dotted edge.
